On Friday 20th September 2019 there were Climate Change protests across the globe, with Youth Strike 4 Climate leading the way. The young activists asked working people to come out on strike with them for the planet. The Branch showed support to the demonstrators by protesting outside the Council House with the other Trade Unions and organisations, including Lush workers who closed the store in protest and attended the demonstration.
Many of the young people at the protest had been inspired by Greta Thunberg, who has been campaigning against Climate Change, from a small movement to inspiring masses. She recently made a passionate speech at the United Nations.

Birmingham City Council have declared a Climate Emergency along with other Local Authorities across the UK. They encourage the use of public transport and West Midlands Rail are working on improvements of their services. However the controversial charge zone for higher polluting vehicles has been postponed for the time being.
