998 – Making Equality Central to Your Union Practice

This new course will examine one of UNISON’s key objectives; to campaign for fairness and equality in the workplace and beyond. UNISON will continue to challenge discrimination to ensure everyone is treated with dignity and respect. UNISON representatives will play a crucial role in determining how successful the union is in achieving these aims.
The course will cover:
- How reps can make equality central to their union practice
- An overview of Equality legislation
- Update on UNISON’s equality campaigns
- Develop tools to help reps in their role
This is an ideal course to undertake before considering further UNISON courses on workplace discrimination.
989 – Mental Health in the Workplace

This new course will look at how we can build a mentally healthier workplace, ensuring your employer adheres to the relevant health and safety legislation and guidance.. Mental health at work is a health and safety issue, an unhealthy workplace has physical risks and psychological risks which can be just as damaging. It also involves organising, bargaining and building partnerships.
This course will cover:
- What affects our mental health at work
- Dealing with mental health issues
- Legal obligations of employers
- Organising to improve mental health at work
UNISON recommends this course for all representatives before undertaking other mental health training.
