UNISON Local Government Conference
The Conference will be held from 9.30am Sunday 11th June to 5pm Monday 12th June 2022 in Liverpool. This conference is motions based and branches from across the country meet, debate and vote on what direction the union should take on all issues of importance to workers in Local Government. Our delegation meet before going to conference and UNISON pays for the travel, hotel and expenses. As a large branch we are able to send 11 delegates and 8 of those must be women.
UNISON National Delegate Conference
The Conference will be held from Tuesday 12th June at 10am to Friday 16th June at 4pm in Liverpool. This conference is for all section of the union including Health, Community & Voluntary, Water, Environment and Transport, police staffs etc Its is UNISON’s annual parliament and covers issues affecting members from across the areas we organise in. Again we have 11 delegates, 8 of whom must be women.
At both of the conferences we hope to take our branch experiences to the union as a whole and to learn from the experiences of others across the UK to feed back into the work we do in Birmingham.
UNISON West Midlands Regional Council
As the title suggest this is a meeting for delegates from all UNISON branches across the West Midlands and it meets 4 time a year, twice on a Thursday and twice on a Saturday. We have 13 delegates 10 of whom should be women. Regional Council debates and discusses issues that affect us in the West Midlands.
Birmingham Trades Union Council (BTUC)
As the largest affiliate to the Trades Council we have more places than we usually manage to fill. BTUC meets on the first Thursday of every month from 7-8.30pm. It is made up of delegates from across all the major trade unions in the city and has been useful in helping spread the solidarity to those unions already fighting for more pay.
