A joint NJC circular has been issued to employers, advising them of working
arrangements and pay entitlements for the Christmas and New Year period 2026 / 2027.
As Boxing Day falls on a Saturday this year, Monday 28 December has been designated as a public holiday with pay in substitution for Boxing Day.
The circular is in line with arrangements in previous years when Boxing Day has fallen on a Saturday. Branches are asked to ensure that members covered by the NJC receive the appropriate additional pay and/or time off, depending on which days they work over the holiday season.
