The Branch

Welcome to our branch website. We hope you will find this a useful place and resource to learn about the Birmingham branch of UNISON and what we do and find out the latest on current issues.

UNISON Birmingham Branch has 15,000 members providing a wide range of services to the people of Birmingham. If you are not a member and work in the public sector, why not join us and benefit from the support, services and strength that being a member of UNISON can provide.

We hope you will find this site useful for information on our current campaigns, branch issues and in finding your branch contacts.

UNISON is one of the UK’s largest trade unions, serving more than 1.3 million members. We represent full-time and part-time staff who provide public services, although they may be employed in both the public and private sectors.

The branch is represented by elected branch officers and directorate stewards who focus on specific issues that affect members and on ensuring all members that need individual representation receive it. Our workplace stewards are a member’s first point of call for any enquiries and workplace contacts are well placed to update members about branch issues.

Branch activities include negotiating and campaigning on local issues such as around our contracts of employment, HR Policies and Procedures and equal pay, we also provide workplace and after work lifelong learning activities for all members.
